Jackson Tailors - tailors suit makati
Filipino Men are now opting for fashion forward designs. For 2018, it appears that more is more. Filipino men are now more expressive. and their suits more versatile.
Before we go into the 2018 trends of Menswear, I would like to talk to you guys about The difference between tuxedos, morning suits and tailcoats.
This will be a series of journals about the three menswear formals.
So what do people usually wear on formal occasions here in Manila?
Well, of course the mighty Barong. We will do a series on that after this.
But nothing spells out dashing than a classic tuxedo or tux.
It did come from an American elitist country club type crowd of Tuxedo Park. The o'l Hudson Valley enclave of New York Elite. Imported by Saville Row's finest tailor.
For the filipino man looking to look sharp in their prom or wedding this is what we want you to wear. Leave the suit for your not so formal formals.
And instead of the full satin lapel, trimmings are more popular. Like embroidered lapel, either celtic, art deco, art nouveau in design. Still subtle. because embroidery will be in black thread.
Moving on to your Crisp white shirts. We always use Wingtip or Spread collar.
Our cuffs are usually the French cuffs. It is still the best option.
Definitely pair it with stylish cufflinks. It need not be too boring.
We advice our clients to visit AC+632 by Firma for their cufflinks. Located on the 2nd level of Greenbelt 5. They have the most amazing options for cufflinks.
for buttons, We usually use our proudly pinoy pearls. It is the most elegant and can compliment any cufflink design.
Just a bit of history lesson, the pearl buttons were our finest exports back in the day. Imagine that. We were supplying the world the most fashionable buttons behind the plaquets. The better option to shiny studs.
Bow ties are usually silk as you match the satin lapels of your jacket. But you can go for Other choices like silk satin, knit silk or silk twill.
The oxfords are still Classic choice. Make sure that if you invest on one. Choose the ones with no cuts or lines. Just one smooth Oxfords.
Patent black or cap toe, the Wingtip shoes are a little too ornate but surely deserve their way into a black-tie event.
Monks straps have slipped into the design trends and have fashioned itself right into the hearts of filipino men.
And lastly lets talk about the cummerbands.
It is the tuxedo's pleated belt on your waist. You usually associate with a tux.
Traditionally you dont wear a belt but the cummerband.
But here at Jacksons tailors we proudly introduce a no cummerband tux.
Menswear Designer Jeffrey Chu has yet again given Filipino Men a more sharper, trendier and easier to wear Tuxedo.
But still formal and distinct. Not as restrictive. Not too 80's or oldy moldy.
you are welcome.
Now lets get into the dos and donts of wearing a tux.
Starting with the Do's
Now lets talk about the Don'ts
Menswear has become more lenient, Happy to say a 1/4 inch satin lapel has been making waves these past years.
And Thanks to Daniel Craig, tighter waists and slim fitting pants are quite the way to go for your tux design.
we end our journal on the Tuxedo!!!!
